CAN-AM X3 / ROTAX 900 ARP FASTENERS
Head Studs
Brian Crower has worked closely with ARP and their engineers over the past year, supplying them the engines (Polaris XP’s, Can-Am X3 / Rotax 900 and Yamaha YXZ) for R&D purposes…we didn’t just send sample studs to be remade in bulk. The result is that OEM clamp loads were exceeding certain specs, so ARP ditched the 8740 material currently being used to make “custom” head studs for certain companies and upgraded to the venerable ARP2000 alloy that is heat treated to 200,000 p.s.i. For severe-duty applications, we opted to go with the premium Custom Age 625+ material (280,000 p.s.i.) and avoided the corrosive L19 material that is also common with private label brand studs.
Case Studs/Bolts
Again, working directly with ARP, we dialed in the clamp loads, torque specs and tolerances on their existing case studs…so those are now good to go. But we also did one better, we convinced ARP to make stock replacement case bolts that aren’t torque to yield and can therefore be used multiple times before needing to be replaced. Made from ARP2000 with a tensile strength of 200,000 p.s.i., these ARP case bolts by runBC are the perfect solution to that build where you’re exceeding factory boost and want peace of mind that the factory bolt cannot offer.
